National Science Day 2025: Celebrating Scientific Excellence

National Science Day is observed annually on February 28 to honor the groundbreaking discovery of the Raman Effect by Indian physicist Sir C.V. Raman in 1928. This discovery, which revolutionized our understanding of light scattering, earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930. The Government of India officially designated this day in 1986 to recognize scientific achievements and inspire future generations.



The theme for National Science Day 2025 is "Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat." It emphasizes the role of young minds in driving scientific progress and technological advancements; seminars, exhibitions, and interactive sessions across the nation encourage students and researchers to explore scientific frontiers.

From Raman’s pioneering work in optics to India’s strides in space research and biotechnology, science continues to shape national progress. This day serves as a reminder of the importance of research and innovation in building a self-reliant and technologically advanced nation.

As we celebrate, let’s commit to making science more accessible and engaging for all.
