Balancing Academics and Extracurriculars
Balancing cocurricular activities with academics can be overwhelming. But for a student, both academics and extracurriculars have equal importance. This balance is necessary to develop various skills and create a holistic learning experience. Children at a young age often participate in extracurricular activities and develop these skills. But over time, academics take the center stage.
Here is how you can balance both your academics and extracurriculars effectively and make the most out of your learning experience.
Prioritize: Determine your priorities for the day and set clear goals. Say you have an exam tomorrow, so for today, your academics hold priority. Doing so will ensure you are not overburdened and doing well in your academics.
Plan Effectively: Make a practical schedule, manage your time, and set clear goals. Many calendar and time management apps can also help you keep track of all your activities. Keep up with your assignments, homework, exams, and track your progress. Use effective study techniques like pomodoro to spend quality time on your academics and balance work with rest. This way, your study time will be more rewarding and you will have time for your cocurricular activities as well.
Utilize Breaks: Revise your school notes at home to quickly grasp concepts. When you get extra breaks during school time, utilize these to complete some assignments and homework so that you have more time to spend on your hobbies after school. Remember to not keep a break idle, instead make use of time more effectively, engaging in various activities such as your hobbies, small walks, or playing with your furry friends. During extensive and long study sessions, even a simple thing such as taking a sip of water can be rejuvenating.
Most of all enjoy the journey, have fun in your after-school activities, think of these activities as a break from your routine of studying and an energizing dose for your brain. At the end, I'd like to add "work smart, not hard!"
